Beta
Definition
A pre-release version of software given to a select group of users to try under real conditions.
Deep Dive
A Beta version of a product, predominantly in software and technology, is a pre-release version distributed to a select group of external users (beta testers) for real-world testing. This stage follows the internal Alpha testing phase and aims to gather feedback on usability, performance, compatibility across diverse environments, and to uncover bugs that may have been missed internally. Beta versions are generally more stable and feature-complete than Alpha builds, but they are still not considered final and may contain bugs or incomplete functionalities.
Examples & Use Cases

- 2Microsoft distributing a beta version of its next Windows operating system to a community of developers and tech enthusiasts
