Definition
An early version of a product, often not feature-complete, used for internal testing.
Deep Dive
An Alpha version of a product, particularly common in software development, represents a very early, often incomplete, functional build used exclusively for internal testing. It's the stage where the core functionalities are implemented but are typically unstable, prone to bugs, and lack many planned features or polished user interfaces. The primary goal of an Alpha release is to allow developers and dedicated internal Quality Assurance (QA) teams to identify major structural flaws, critical bugs, and fundamental design issues before external users are involved.
