In essence, it's a revenue-sharing model where the business (merchant) pays a commission to external individuals or companies (affiliates) for generating sales, leads, or clicks through their unique promotional channels. This model shifts much of the marketing risk from the merchant to the affiliate, as payment is often contingent on a measurable outcome.
