Definition

A series of algorithms that endeavors to recognize underlying relationships in a set of data through a process that mimics the way the human brain operates.

Deep Dive

A neural network is a sophisticated series of algorithms designed to recognize underlying relationships in a dataset through a process that loosely mimics the way the human brain operates. Inspired by the biological neurons and synapses, these computational models consist of interconnected "neurons" organized into layers – typically an input layer, one or more hidden layers, and an output layer. Each connection between neurons has an associated "weight," which the network adjusts during training to learn from data.

Examples & Use Cases

  • 1Image recognition systems identifying objects within photographs
  • 2Voice assistants accurately transcribing and understanding spoken commands
  • 3Fraud detection systems flagging suspicious financial transactions
