Hypertext Transfer Protocol. The foundation of data exchange on the Web.

HTTP is the protocol used by web browsers and servers to communicate. When you type a URL into your browser, it sends an HTTP request to a server, which then sends back an HTTP response containing the text, images, and code for that webpage.
